Spinnaker Pavilion Scale Model...

Model at preliminary stage

Finished model

Inspiration for Spinnaker...

“A spinnaker is a special type of sail that is designed specifically for sailing off the wind from a reaching course to a downwind, i.e. with the wind 90°–180° off the bow.” - Wikipedia

The next pavilion idea...

Spinnaker -
Initial model - this was constructed out of chicken wire, double sided tape, and sheer fabrics.  The wires were sandwiched between two circles of cardboard, which formed the base.

Second working model - in actual fact this was my first attempt at a scale model, however I chose to work on too small a scale and therefore I had to redo the exercise.  The base of this model is clay, with the wires stuck into it, and fabric sails sewn to fit into the metal framings.

TV Studio Inspiration...

Origami – the main inspiration for my chosen tv set proposal.

The following examples are two origami creations.  The first is a 'triceratops' by Fumiaki Kawahata, while the second is a 'rose' by Kawasaki.

Experimenting with pavilion ideas...

Angular idea

Canopy idea

Progression of tyre idea...

Concept  ‘Opposites’
Basic theme
- Natural vs Manmad
- Wood vs Rubber Tyres

Model made out of
    • Clay (for tyres)
    • Plastic tape (that looks wooden)

Making a model..

Making use of air-hardening, modeling clay, I started building up a structure, keeping in mind my idea for the reuse of vehicle tyres.
